Kevin Johnson has been the mayor of Sacramento, CA since 2008. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. As a result, Johnson became the 55th mayor of Sacramento making history as the first African American to serve as the mayor of Sacramento.
Prior to his political career Johnson played in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers and is known for his tenure with the Phoenix Suns. Upon beginning his career as the mayor, Johnson worked to improve the city the lives of the citizens of Sacramento. He works to improve important aspects such as safety, job creation, and education for the citizens living in the city of Sacramento.
Randal Selland is the chief owner of Sacramento’s top restaurant: the Kitchen. He has worked to provide incredible dining experiences for all of those residing and visiting the city. Additionally, he works to ensure local ingredients are utilized to provide a farm-to-fork experience. Selland is reputable for his very personal relationships with local farmers in the area.

Sacramento native J.P. Howell, or James Phillip Howell, is a professional baseball pitcher for the LA Dodgers in the MLB. Howell is a left handed batter and pitcher. His career with the Dodgers began in 2013, though he played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Kansas City Royals prior to signing with LA. Upon relocating to the LA Dodgers, he secured a one-season contract of 2.85 million dollars. Howell was able to sign a two year 11.25 million dollar contract in 2014, and now plays for approximately 6.25 million dollars per year. Howell is also currently married to Heather Hennessy.
Lisa Ling was born in Sacramento in 1973, and is now the host of “This is Life with Lisa Ling” on CNN. Her show previously was on OWN as “Our America with Lisa Ling”. Ling’s beginnings were as a co-host on the View. Lisa’s journalistic fame has made her a prominent, Sacramento-born individual.
Ling began her education at the University of Southern California, though she left prior to graduating and dove right into the professional sphere. Her success has demonstrated her ability to focus and exploit her great talent as a journalist.
